The seed pearls around the border or within the design symbolize tears and are worn as a tribute to lost loved one.
Jewellery often has hidden meanings in the design and colours used even where the item of jewellery is worn.
White, usually enamel, being a pure colour represented the death of a child or unmarried woman of any age i.e. the name maid, from maiden i.e. unmarried.
