Meaning of flowers
The Victorians loved things with hidden coded meanings, like a swallow for a traveller or soldier "I will return".
One whole series of these were the meanings of flowers, in this case meaning "happiness" yellow rose mean "friendship", red of course "love" etc.
A sweet thing to collect and as 138 years old not easy to find last one we had was about 10 years ago.
Obviously not just roses but other flowers too all with meanings, some more obvious like violets, pansies are for remembrance from the French word pan se to remember, funny enough all that we have had have been round like this.
